Well Hello Lovelies!
I just have to say that there is 15 days left until Christmas!! Am I the only one whose super duper excited (I'm not counting down or anything)? Also can I add that I am almost done my shopping, woohoo! How is everyone else doing?
So on the topic of guests and Christmas, it means parties & dinners are coming. Why not talk about how to stylize and set your table? That's why I'm here to make it easy & fun for you and give you steps and an easy checklist. So you don't find yourself running around last minute with your head cut off (we do NOT want that), trying to finish and get everything together.
Let's do this!
First: choosing a theme
- Special occasions
Start by figuring out what occasion is this for. Then you can easily choose a theme, which then will make it easy to choose your colors & materials (unless you already have something in mind).
Second: Choose your accessories
- Candles/Candle sticks
- Table cloth/runner
- Napkin Rings
- Plates, Cups, Glasses, Cutlery, Bowls
Now we figure out what your table cloth pattern is and matching or coordinating napkins. Next we can figure out what accessories you want to use such as; plates, cutlery, cups & glasses, center pieces etc. Lastly to add ambiance you can either dim the lights or if you don't have one, candles are the next best thing!
Three: the layout & Number Of guests
- Plan your table settings & placement
- Number of guests attending
- If your want a formal or non-formal setting
Now's the time to figure out how many settings you'll need with the number of guests that will be attending. This is all the technical stuff but make it fun, ask the kids to help or make it a game!
Four: Setting Your Table
- Place the table runner or table cloth
- Place your place settings
- Place your plates, salad plates, soup/salad bowls
- Place your cutlery
- Place your cups
- Place your centerpieces & any accessories
Let's start building our table! Lay everything out on your table and if you need to fiddle and fix as you go, that's ok! It's a good visual to see what works and what doesn't and it bring your designs to life. It may look different than in your head but it may even turn out better! So Try different things and think outside the box, this is the fun part! Also just remember for your center pieces make sure they tall enough (over the head height) or short enough (below chin level), you don't want to set a beautiful table and not enjoy the company.
Five: finishing touches
- Place cards
- Little gifts
- Any special last touches
This is where you add your last finishing touches. Any special little gifts, place cards, treats, name tags, etc. Its time to be creative and make people feel special.
A super easy and super fun project! Remember it can be as simple or as elaborate as you want it! Whether its an event, a party, a holiday occasion, or just your everyday dinner. You can decorate your table anyway you like. Just remember it's for you & your guests to enjoy so don't stress to impress. Use what you have and make it fun! The most important part is the love, interactions and memories you share.

You made it to the bottom yay!! Now it's time to be rewarded, here is your dining room checklist.
Use it so you don't forget any little detail. With the checklist on one side and plan out your table on the other, by drawing out your plan (maybe even use a pencil just in case!). Lastly there's a spot for just some notes. Now you can set the table with ease and have everything you need ready!
