Hi my friends!
Thanks for baring with me last week, it was a little crazy and to be honest a little hard to get back into the swing of things (vacation mode was so nice). This week though I am feeling MUCH better and back to everyday routine!
Today I think I'd like to take it a little more personal, some one on one time with you all. Sound good to you?
Now that summer is starting and the spring cleaning is done, it feels like a new start doesn't it? With summer I find though it tends to get BUSY, more like overwhelming. With baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, trips, re-decorating, renovations etc. Summer is usually prime time for sprucing up the outdoors and the indoors am I right? Plus we all want to get valuable family & friend time in there too.
Does anyone already feel overwhelmed? Well let me tell you, you are not alone my friends. Working a full-time job and having my passion blog on the side anda little bit of a social life too. It can get a little hectic, plus I always try to make time for hubby and family but sometimes I can get too wrapped into something. Is that just me?
My goal this summer is to find a healthy balance, to have more time for the things I love, to be comfortable to do what I love without regret. To have time for family, blogging and my 9-5 without getting bogged down or burnt out. So I am here today to give my advice and to be here for you if your feeling like that too.
Know lovely you are not alone, you are not the only one and you can get through it I promise!
Regroup, refocus, reprioritize and take a step back. This is your most important step (which sounds like 4 in 1 but I promise it's all glues together), this will clear your mind, et you breath and really take a break.
This is the time to sit down and take a look at what's bogging you down and what's not. Make a list of your tasks, then break them into categories like home, blog (if your a fellow blogger), chores etc. Then really sit and think what you need and want to make yourself happy.
Put it all together in a new plan, figure out a way to balance everything. Take out or reduce time wasting activities and fill it with things that make you happy. Put high priority things on top and things that can wait on the bottom of the list. Find ways to make tasks easier and even ask for help! Schedules, calendars and to-do lists are my serious go to. Without them I would be literally lost, I would be a all over the place crazy lady.
This gives you the time to put your life together again and to make it more functional and easier for you and your families lifestyle.
If your on the burnout path STOP, take a deep breath & refocus your thoughts. If you need to take a break, step back or even take a few days for yourself, that's ok. Really shut off and experience everything, sometimes you just need family, friends or a girls night out. Treat yourself because you deserve it!
Then come back and you will feel rejuvenated, re-energized and ready to take on anything. In home decor it can feel overwhelming with the endless to do list or if you are just starting renovations. My advice to you would be go slow, it is not a race and no one will notice but yourself if something isn't quite finished yet. Enjoy and relish in the process, this will not only help you love your home but really connect with it.
I hope this advice will help you feel confident and ok with not being quite exsactly where you need to be. I know I am not but I will get there and so will my home, can we all say that together?
Remember breath, connect and experience it all. That's what it's all about!
